Special Vancouver Performance:
Concert Pianists YoonYoung Choi (Korea) & Gen Segawa (Japan)

January 22, 2023

On Jan 22, 2023, YoonYoung Choi performed in a special piano concert in Vancouver, along with Japanese pianist Gen Segawa.
Her vibrant and sensitive performance included Chopin’s Ballade no. 2, Liszt’s Widmung and Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata,
along with music by contemporary Canadian composer Rufus Lin.

The concert began with Au Canada and two other pieces by the organizer, pianist and composer Rufus Lin.
She then attracted the audience with masterpieces by Schumann and Chopin.

After both pianists had finished their solo programmes, they sat down together for a four-hands one piano duet, the Petit Suite by Debussy.
The duo played all four movements of this delightful music, and despite the fact that they had little opportunity to practice together,
being from Korea and Japan respectively, they delivered a precise and articulate interpretation of the suite.

Once again, following on her successful concerto performance with the Abend Kammar Philharmonika in Japan last year,
YoonYoung delivered brilliant interpretations of each piece she played in Vancouver, and received heartfelt ovations from the audience.
After two hours of concentration at the piano, YoonYoung met with her many fans.

A wonderful concert once again by YoonYoung Choi. We look forward to her ongoing activities as a classical pianist.
